About Rotor One
Rotor One, a premier helicopter charter service based in Australia, offers a range of helicopter rental solutions, including scenic flights, private charters, and corporate transfers. The inception of Rotor One is an interesting story. Edward Taylor, the founder, was originally a SaaS entrepreneur. He moved back to Australia during COVID-19, took a year off to learn new skills, and decided to become a helicopter pilot. After becoming a commercial pilot, he launched Rotor One in 2021 to provide helicopter tours.
Despite initial challenges caused by the lockdown, Rotor One’s growth took flight. It now carries over a thousand passengers annually. Edward’s marketing expertise also proved to be a catalyst for Rotor One’s growth.
Rotor One operates an extensive fleet of helicopters, catering to diverse customer needs and destinations. Their innovative approach includes unique services like Uber-style helicopter bookings, making Rotor One a leader in the helicopter rental industry. Starting from Melbourne, it has now expanded to other major Australian cities such as Sydney and Brisbane.
Challenges that Rotor One faced
- Resource Management Complexity
Rotor One struggled with managing various helicopter types for different passenger capacities. This complexity led to manual efforts in setting up blackout periods for each variant, resulting in booking conflicts, increased workload for the staff, and even customer dissatisfaction. - Staff Account Limitation
Limited staff accounts posed a significant challenge for the booking service, as each account was necessary for linking Google calendar syncs for individual helicopters. Without sufficient staff accounts, the service faced constraints in managing its fleet effectively, which again impacted operations and customer satisfaction. - Email Customization Challenges
The complexity of configuring emails using Liquid (template language created by Shopify and written in Ruby) presented a barrier for users without technical skills. This challenge hindered the booking service's ability to customize email communications effectively, potentially impacting customer engagement and brand perception. - Lack of On-Hold Booking Status
The absence of an on-hold status for bookings during adverse weather or disruptions created operational challenges for the booking service. Without this feature, Rotor One struggled to manage bookings effectively, leading to potential scheduling conflicts and customer dissatisfaction. - Google Calendar Invitation Issues
Rotor One customers often received calendar invites with warnings from Google about invites from unknown strangers if the sender was not in their contacts. This caused confusion and concern among customers and undermined their trust and confidence in Rotor One.
Addressing these challenges was crucial for Rotary.One.With Book That App, they were able to overcome most of these challenges and also increase their booking revenues.

I checked them all out. BTA has a great interface to set up your bookings. Integrates flawlessly with Google, and most import works perfectly with our theme. Something I can't say for the others. All around a great app.
If that's not enough, they have one of the best support teams anywhere. Responsive to all inquiries with quick fixes. Very comforting when you rely on the app to run seamlessly.
